Oldnhappy and vacationguy, thanks very much for your time. I appreciate your responses. I do feel Sunterra is a good one to pick and I might as well go for it. Thanks again.

Another thing that you can do is to check eBay. You can search for Sunterra timeshares, particularly current auctions on the site. Go through the completed auctions. This will give you a fair idea about what was sold at what price and what did not sell, etc.
Sunterra has plenty of options. One of the popular ones is the Sun Options points systems. Personally I feel that this points system based option offers greater flexibility when compared with other similar options offered by some exchange companies. Just in case you are buying a resale from a private party, make sure that you are part of the points system. Sometimes you may end up paying a few thousand dollars just to join the points system. You can also find out from Sunterra about a group of Sunterra resorts which form a trust. From what I know, if you were to buy any one of these resorts from a private party, then you could exchange into any of the other resorts in the group/trust without having to go through exchange companies such as II and RCI. Another thing that you should make sure is to buy enough points. This will ensure that your points will take care of your travel needs. There are occasions when we fall for salesperson’s bait and go in for cheaper packages, to end up finding that the exchange options are limited.
