Hi all. I am fairly new to timeshares in general. I went through some of the listings on eBay and found them attractive. I just wanted to know what are the questions that I need to ask before I take the plunge. Any thoughts on the listings on eBay?
one thing about ebay being a power seller myself you need to be careful of the seller there are people on there who may trick you and you'll end up paying for something and it won't be as described. Now ebay will refund your money as long as you follow their procedures but there is always a risk. You may want to ask basic questions to start like how long the person has owned the timeshare, are the points tradeable and how they are because every resort is different on that. Also a good one is can the resort excersise a right of 1st refusal. You also want to know what the maintence fees are and stuff like that but a suggestion check the BBB (better business bureau) and see who they recommend to buy or rent a timeshare through.
I'm not sure if this whole Square Trade Travel Certification thing can be taken seriously. Some of my friends actually sent them an exchange confirmation and they accepted it, guess as what? As proof of ownership. So, the best way, as vacation guy mentioned, would be to check out the feedback of the seller and then demanding an escrow protected payment.
Anyone renting on eBay needs to be Square Trade Travel Certified. Find out whether this stamp is there on their ad. This particular certification needs the owners to show their proof of ownership. This way you are assured against scams.

The most important thing you need to check out is the credibility of the seller. One good way to check would be to go through the sellers’ feedback. Say for instance if there are 30 or more transactions with around 90-100% positive feedback, then you need not worry.
