I've seen timeshare people using the terms red week, pink week, and all sorts of "colors." I have the basic understanding that a red week is the most sought after one, but how do they decide on that? What makes a week red and another one pink or green or whatever? What are the criteria for a red week? Could someone explain this to me? Thanks in advance.
I see a couple members have already explained you the concept of red week, so there is no need for me to reiterate that. However, you might want to know the difference between RCI and II. In both RCI and II, they classify weeks according to their demands, but the colors designated differ from each other.
In RCI, red stands for peak season, white stands for average demand season, and blue stands for the season with lowest demand.
In II, red stands for peak season, yellow stands for average demand season, and green stands for the season with lowest demand.
The location matters a lot. Most importantly, if it has something like a beach or mountain. You have to remember one thing. Most people go on vacation to places where they can go out and enjoy themselves. Few people love to stay indoors and enjoy the amenities of the resort. This is the reason why you see places like Caribbean and Florida get mobbed season after season.
A unit with good amenities in a location where you can enjoy the mountain or beach nearby will be in more demand than a unit which has excellent amenities in a location where you don't find anything interesting. If the services and amenities are reasonably good and the location is irresistible, you have a potential red week in your hands. The season also matters a lot. During Summer, you can find a lot of beach units termed red weeks, but whereas during off season, the weeks will be considered normal ones.
The term red week refers to a week which is desirable in every sense of the word. To be precise, it should have a very good trade value/exchange value. Usually, it depends on certain criteria like the location of the unit, the season, and other things. In short, red week is something that is most sought after by people.
