Howdy Y'all; I travel a lot and have been to a lot of countries. I have a liking for exploring new places, cultures, people, and food. I'm planning my next vacation somewhere in the Caribbean. Have you been there? Could anyone give me some idea about places to go, nice resorts, and other things in the Caribbean?
I was out of town for a week; BTW, I'm going to the Bahamas for my next vacation. Actually, I've been travelling extensively for a long time now and haven't been able to spend some time with my wife. So, we decided we would go to a not-so-extravagant place and just spend lots of time together. Anyways, thanks very much for your info; I really appreciate it.

I have been to the British Virgin Islands and I can tell you the experience was nothing short of magnificent. I went to Peter Island, a small, beautiful island in BVI. I had the time of my life there.
Peter Island is a wonderful spot for anyone who thinks of a dream vacation. The beaches are long and beautiful. The water is crystal clear. I stayed in the Peter Island Resort. Here I have to mention that it is by far the most wonderful resort I have ever stayed. The rooms were clean, spacious, and neatly furnished. The staff was very helpful.
I went to the White Bay, Deadman's, and the Great Harbor. Deadman's beach was my favorite. I spent a lot of time there, and so did the others. The food there was equally good. Deadman's has the reputation of serving the best buffet in that area. I enjoyed every single meal.
Apart from the facilities of the resort, places to hang out, and the beaches, it's the tranquility and the harmony of the place which is sure to make you fall in love. If you love vacations, trust me; Peter Islands is the place to go.
Hi,
I got some info from my friends who have been there. They are listed below.
1. The currency is peso; 33 pesos equal one US dollar. So, you need not carry large amount of cash.
2. You can see lots of people trying to sell you everything from paintings to pirated DVDs. Never go for the first offer. Bargain with them, turn down their offer, and try to leave; they will give it to you for whatever price you want.
3. The Brugal Rum factory, The Malecon, and the Amber Museum in Puerta Plata-Sosua region, Paradise Island, Punta Cana, Samana Peninsula are some of the places not to be missed.
4. The place is generally considered safe; but still it's not advisable for girls to go alone to some parts of the beach during night time.
I have been to the Dominican Republic and I can say it's a great place. I was there in Victoria Golf & Beach Resort with my husband and loved everything about it. It's a quiet, beautiful resort that has everything you would look forward to a vacation.
The accommodation was great. It was a Superior room with balcony. It also had a minibar which was stocked with softdrinks and beer. We had an all inclusive package, which allowed us unlimited use of two restaurants, a Mexican beach club, and a buffet restaurant. The buffet was wonderful with King prawns, oysters and many more.
A walk down the stretch of the beach could be the most relaxing thing for anyone. The streets are filled with hawkers who literally try to sell everything. Sometimes they do go a bit overboard and try to force you buy things. But nothing much to worry about.
The entertainment staff was great. They made our evenings lighter and enjoyable. We tried a host of activities including snorkeling, windsurfing, sailing, and bicycling.
We checked out Paradise Islands and it was great. My husband tried the golf course and was satisfied. (which is quite a news because my husband is hard to please when it comes to golf) :)
Overall, it was a great vacation and I would recommend it to anyone in a heart's beat.
So, before you gear up for your Caribbean vacation, give Dominican Republic a good thought.
Hi; Caribbean is a wonderful choice for the vacation. Hope you read the posts about Aruba and Morritts Grand. Apart from them, I would suggest you try the Dominican Republic. Sure; it's not the first thing that comes to the mind in Caribbean, but that's what makes it unique. I've heard there are some very good resorts out there and the people are generally very friendly, typical caribbean nature. :)
I will try and get some more info about some of the places/resorts there.
