Hi everyone. I own a Cancun timeshare and since I’ve had my fill of vacations there, I am now thinking of selling it to one of my friends. Can someone tell me how exactly I can go about making a legal transaction in Mexico?

It was not long ago that I too owned a Mexican timeshare. All that I did to sell it was to get in touch with my resort and they did the transfer. The entire procedure is as simple as that.
The entire selling process is relatively simple. In Mexico, unlike in the U.S., a timeshare is not a deeded property but a right-to-use property which is meant for a particular number of years. What this means is that the transfer of ownership is handled in most of the cases by the resort itself. You will need to shell out a transfer fee and rest will be taken care off.
